Our Mission

Founded in 1991 by the Societies of Saint-Vincent de Paul of the City of Thetford Mines, La Vigne Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects donations of food and essential products throughout the year and redistributes them to people living in the region who are in difficulty. We also participate in the development of sustainable solutions in order to promote nutritional safety.

La Vigne provides a food supplement to an average of 200 families per week. The Hunger Count carried out in March 2024 identified 382 different households who frequented La Vigne for a total of 926 different people.

More than one-third of these people were children aged 17 and under.

Our Values

Three main values guide us in our actions and interventions:

Respect, which is the recognition of the dignity of every human being and the acceptance of differences between people.

Fairness, which is acting without prejudice, without favoritism, and with complete impartiality.

Solidarity, which is to say mutual assistance and mutual aid.

Our Volunteers

La Vigne has a team of about 40 volunteers who sort the food received from local grocery stores and Moisson Beauce, and also distribute the food to families in need and/or work in the warehouse.

In the past year, just over 6,000 hours of volunteer time were spent at La Vigne.

Our Main Sources Of Funding

The Firefighters' Food Drive

Organized by the City of Thetford Mines' Fire Department for the benefit of our organization, the Firefighters' Food Drive has enabled La Vigne (thanks to the generous participation of the population in this event) to raise more than $585,000 since its inception in 2002.

The City of Thetford Mines Charity Golf Tournament

La Vigne is one of four community organizations that share the profits from this fundraising activity, which brought in $19,320 for La Vigne in 2023.

Donations from individuals and corporations

Donations from individuals, corporations, and organizations represented 50% of our revenues for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, which allowed La Vigne to provide food supplements to an average of 200 families per week.
